Catholic Radio is on the cutting edge of a nationwide movement to rebuild the cultural, moral and spiritual underpinning of our society. It is a strong reassuring voice of the faith-filled Catholic laity, working in partnership with clergy and Church leaders.

In South Carolina, Catholic radio began with faithful Catholics who wanted to bring the medium to state. Through their efforts, Mediatrix SC, Inc, a 501(c)(3) a not-for-profit corporation was formed in December of 2002. Operating as Mediatrix Radio, Catholic programming from the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) Global Catholic Radio went on the air in June 2003 in the lowcountry over WQIZ 810 AM St. George, a 5000-watt station. A second station, WCKI 1300 AM, went on the air in the upstate in April 2004 broadcasting with a 1000 watt signal.

Both stations reach a wide audience with the life-changing message of the Gospel, the teachings of the Catholic Church, and a fresh moral perspective on critical issues and events. It counters the shallow assumptions of the secular media and touches people one-to-one, making a difference in individual lives.

Mediatrix Radio is only able to operate through the generosity of its listeners and supporters. A small full-time staff--supported by numerous volunteers, who donate their time, talent and energy--keep Catholic radio on the air in South Carolina.
